Toys from nature
| ........Nowadays children
have fashion dolls, boat sets, and toy guns made
from synthetic materials. In the old days, because
these plastic toys were not as easily obtainable,
children found playthings in the vicinity. This
helped them invent their own toys which, when
damaged, they could throw away without feeling
sorry, since there was no ready-made toys for them
to play. |
 Playing at keeping shop
| ........Girls' favorite.
With leaves and grass as ingredients, the children
would merrily pretend to cook and to sell food to
customers. Flowers such as yellow marigold and
scarlet hibiscus were squeezed for extract juice,
which would be used as syrup. Small leaves became
money; larger ones served as plates. Adults would
kindly let the little cooks borrow old blunt knives,
coconut shells, or unused bowls, which would be
adapted to their convenience. |
