I

If you join #siam, please try to maintain it as it is meant to be, a talking channel. After staying a while and you've earned trust from channel regulars, you'll be added to the user list and able to request OP from the bots. #Siam is not an operator playground. Please don't request for op unless you need it. You can have fun with operator status (kicking your friends' butt for fun) once in a while, but don't abuse it. it.
To keep a public channel like #siam friendly and with good talking atmosphere, we'll need some simple rules. These rules are necessary to let most people enjoy the channel, not to make some people "Kings of #siam". If you don't agree, then don't hesitate to contact us. After all, IRC is for fun and we think anyone should enjoy the channel and leave it with a smile on her/his face. :)

Don't flood the channel. If you want to flood someone, then do it privately. :) Nick flood, clone bots, tctp flood, etc are pretty annoying to people. Mostly, a bot will kick you out if you flood enough. We know that it's annoying getting kicked out, but be aware of that you're annoying the rest of the channel when flooding.

No abusive use of OP If you use Op to kick and ban because you personally don't like that person, and he/she didn't annoy other channel user, you are abusing your operator status. Personal conflict should be taken out privately not upon channel operation. If you kick/ban someone, that person will not just cry and die off, they might try to take over the channel and make everyone suffer because of you. Your access will be taken out if you've found to abuse the op Here's are some real example of when operator goes sour with OP

Don't mess with channel modes. The default mode should be set to "nt", which means: No messages can be sent to the channel from outside, and only channel operators can change the topic. Don't make the channel "invite only" (+i) or set a channel key (+k key), because #siam is a public channel and should be open for everyone. Additionally, you shouldn't make the channel moderated (+m), it prevents non-ops and non +v users to talk. Normally you won't get kicked if you change the channel modes, but they'll automatically be set back to default.

Don't mass de-op, mass kick, or mass ban (unless you have a VERY good reason). In this case, the bots are protected from such actions and will kick you out.

Some decentcy We do believe in freespeech, for that we believe that you have "respect" for channel users. If you publicly cuses alot, or perform sexually explicit behavior publicly, or viciously chooses to attack upon figures who is respected by all Thais, such as the King, you'll most likely get kicked out or baned by one of the users. The ban won't be stored in the bot's auto kick ban list unless you are repeated offender or mess with channel operation.

As mentioned before, feel free to contact us if you don't agree with us at any of these points. If you feel treated unfair by a bot, like when a bot kicks you for no reason, then contact the bot owners.

IRC is addictive!! take it small dosage at a time!!!
