SiamWEB informal guide to: klung, Jantaburi, Thailand

1997, or 2540 Thai year, the country is doing horribly economicly, Thai bath value bloated from 25 /$ to 30 ++, the nation needs help, and we needed to take a vacation! Yes, in a time of depressing economy, Thai must help Thai, travel in Thailand. Not just because of ecconomic problem, cuz it rules! Travel Thai.. cuz it rules!Plenty of cool places to go and enjoy yourself right here on the motherland. Besides, it cost way less than traveling abroad, and give as much satisfaction. Each year we spend a huge amount of money traveling, shopping overseas. Per head, we spend many times more than visitors coming in to Thailand. We even loose in travel spending balance, just picture trade balance!

We've put our short three days vacation on the web, in hope that you might find it fun, and considered traveling around the motherland more. And here's our trip story with plenty of pictures and tips for you to see, you might find it useful. If not.. oh well, enjoy the pix. And please.. you are welcomed to send your vacation stories in!

The fruit season is here, there's no better place to go than Jantaburi. All of us decided to take monday off and went of for a fruitie trip. Eight of us jump on a rental van heading east to my mother's home town, on saturday morning. Taking a road trip around Thailand isn't all that expensive, if you go in number. The van cost around 1300 bath a day excluding gas. Did I mentioned that the van was equipted with VDO karaoke? We end up paying 390 bath each, for the van plus gas, and 850 baht total, at the end of the break.

About four hours, we've arrived at our destination. Hot sun clear sky, cool wind in the air, sweet smell of banana, rising up through the airr r r ..hehe. sorry, got carried away.
There she was picking rambutan, singing ooo a dee dee dee dum dee dee doo.
P' Pong+ checking out the durian. Dose it bite?
Walking in the fruit plantation we were at least five kilos lighter than we are now. For every five steps, we stop to pick up fruits, mostly mangosteen, longgong, and rambutan.

Pigging out at the fruit plantation was satisfying, as appetizer, now for the main course. We headed to a shrimp farm nearby, run by my grandpa and his sons, which means free food to BBQ!!

I tried throwing those fish net thing, well, it wasn't as easy as it seemed! we got some help from the worker there. The fish found on the pond are there naturally, wasn't farmed like the shrimps.

Here's nong Non, my aunt's son and our host. He's a good looking kid, click on the small image and check him out!

Here we are helping nong Non picking out the small fish tossing'em back to the water pond. The fish wasn't enough, so get get some shrimp as well.

Choo is having fun playing the shrimp."Swadee krap.. I'm about to be dinner for these overgrown two leged creatures" ------->

After three hours hanging out at the shrimp farm, looking around, trying out fishing with a bait, the two leged predators walked back to their hide out to prey upon the poor water creatures.

B
ack at the fruit plantation, took out the grill, light up the fire, prepared to feast on our gatherings from the shrimp farm. The food was great, everyone was full. What else to do but a "Slave" card game. We played till late. Actually we played at almost any occasion where there are flat things in front of us.

Next, we are off to the waterfall, then a beach to stroll around, eat sea food, another beach to coral snorkling.Hell, yea, there's alot of fun things to do.
