"ผู้หญิงไทย" เป็นหัวข้อที่ถกกันมานานในอินเตอร์เน็ต เริ่มด้วยคำถามตั้งแต่เมื่อสี่ปีก่อน ที่ว่า หญิงไทยเป็น โสเภณีกันทุกคนจริงหรือ จนปัจจุบันแม้จะมีผู้ที่รู้จักและเข้าใจวัฒนธรรมไทยมากขึ้น คำถามส่วนใหญ่ก็ยังคงเป็นในแนวเดิม ผู้หญิงไทยทำอีท่าไหน ถึงได้ตกเป็นหัวข้อสนทนา ประจำอินเตอร์เน็ต เราก็ยังสงสัยกันอยู่ อาจจะเป็นเพราะว่า ผู้หญิงไทยเองมีส่วนร่วมค่อนข้างน้อยใน การแสดงความคิดเห็น จึงทำให้ผู้รู้ทั้งหลายมีโอกาส วิพากษ์วิจารณ์กัน ตามอัชฌาสัย ถ้าลองไปแอบฟังคำอธิบายลักษณะหญิงไทยใน สายตาของผู้รู้แล้ว อาจเกิดอาการงง เพราะไม่ทราบท่านผู้รู้ทั้ง หลาย ไปเก็บข้อมูลมาจากไหน บ้างก็ว่า ผู้หญิงไทยอ่อนแอ รักสวยรักงาม เรียบร้อย สงบเสงี่ยม ใจกว้าง เป็น แม่บ้านแม่เรือน บ้างก็ว่า ผู้หญิงไทย เห็นแก่เงิน หลายใจ โกหกเก่ง

ชาวสยามเวบท่านหนึ่ง ตั้งข้อสังเกตว่า ความสับสนทั้งหมดเกิดจาก การที่สื่อต่างประเทศทั้งหลาย เผยแพร่ ลักษณะหญิง ไทยอย่างไม่เป็นกลาง ตัวอย่างที่ใกล้ตัว ก็คงเป็น พวกหน้าบ้านทั้งหลายนี่เอง คำว่าหญิงไทย มักจะพัวพันอยู่กับโฮมเพจ ของบริษัทหาคู่ หรือไม่ก็ธุรกิจท่องเที่ยว หน้าบ้านของชาวไทยเองก็มักจะนำเสนอผู้หญิงไทย แต่ เฉพาะที่เป็นดาราหรือ นักร้อง ดังนั้นผู้หญิงไทยธรรมดา ที่เป็นนักศึกษา คนทำงาน และ แม่ บ้าน จึงกลายเป็นชนส่วนน้อยของประเทศไทย ฟังชาวสยามเวบท่านนั้นติงแล้ว รู้สึกว่าเห็นดีด้วยที่ สยามเวบจะ พยายามลดความเป็น Highway of misinformation ของอินเตอร์เน็ตลง โดยการรวบรวม หน้าบ้านโดย ผู้หญิงไทยหลากความสามารถ เพื่อเป็นการประกาศกันโต้งๆ ว่า ผู้หญิงไทยไม่ใช่ อย่างที่ใครๆเขาว่ากัน ผู้หญิง ไทยแต่ละคน ล้วนมีบุคลิกแต่งต่าง กันไป จะมาสรุปกันง่ายๆ ว่าผู้หญิง ไทยทุกคน เป็นอย่างนั้น อย่างนี้ คง ไม่ได้ แต่ที่แน่ๆ คือ หญิงไทย มีความสามารถหลายด้านนะคะ

How many times have Thai women been misrepresented on the Internet? Well, I've lost count. Recently, a Siamwebler got fed up with the stereotyping of Thai women. She suggested that we should give a balanced view of who Thai women really are. Who are Thai women, anyway? A Penpal club (which sells Thai women's addresses) describes Thai women as committed house-wives. A bitter spouse says Thai women are greedy, narrow-minded, promiscuous and dishonest. A bar-goer views Thai women as hot and sexy. An image-conscious Thai portrays Thai women as intelligent and conservative. A homepage presenting Thai models/singers/actresses reinforces the belief that Thai women are beautiful. Well, I am a Thai women and most Thai women I know don't fit into any of the labels. There are a broad spectrum of Thai women who differ in beliefs, tradition, education, financial situation and values. It is an oversimplification to assume that thirty million Thai women belong to any particular category. An article in a recent bestseller book written for Thai students abroad makes similar blanket statements about women of other nationalities; Japanese women are [...], Indonesian women are [...] . Why is there a need for these assumptions? Perhaps, there is a psychological explanation. Perhaps it is simple ignorance. If we want to stop the stereotyping of Thai women, we should also be fair to women of other nationalities. As Nicholas Negroponte mentioned in his book, "Being Digital", the notion of "nation" will someday be obsolete. Siamweb would like to help speed up this process by diluting the steoreotyping of Thai women. We present you with homepages by three genuine Thai women. In this 'Thai women cool pages', their homepages will speak for themselves. Hopefully, this will lead to a broader view of Thai women.

Her resposibility includes writing, directing and acting in plays that address social issues, i.e., AIDS, democracy, etc. The play troop goes around the country to promote social awareness. In her homepage she mentions that her other interests includes poetry and woodworks.

Khun od says that she is a little embarassed since the homepage is kinda outdated. She hopes to update it soon. Her idea of a cool homepage is a homepage with goodies that doesn't too long to load. (We all can relate to that). Her htmling started out with her wanting to know a little something about electronic publishing. Currently Ph.D. candidate in Telecommunication and a part-time SCTer (more of a lurker), she is particularly interested in Thailand's Internet development and policy making as well as many atheletic activities. She claims she resembles Lisa Simpson with a better hairdo. Well, one has to see to believe. :)
