Thanks for the info
on the Fruit Festival. Is the
Mangosteen a 'hard' covered, dark purple outside with
royal purple inside, and absolutely white meat? If
so, that is what I've been trying to find out for
many years. The BEST fruit in the world. You can
definitely keep the other one! It smells and tastes
like lighter fluid! NO THANKS! The BEST & the worst
at one festival, oh yeah. Thailand is the best!

Can you tell me when
the Fruit Festival occurs? I'm from the U.S. and try to get to Thailand
at least once a year, but have not heard of this festival.

On my visit last
year to Thailand I too did not have the guts to try the Durian. I wanted
to be the best falang possible, but the cultural shock was a big time
for me. Also the great dancing and Thai rock music, with those late nights
in the discos...wow. I wish you all the best of happyness.

Very good information
page.
I am also a durian lover.. I went to the fruit festival once, even though
a lot of friends told me that the fruits there is normally expensive than
you can get in the local markets, but I didn't care and went there, pretty
nice arrangement and the parking space was great!.. hundreds and hundreds
or shops offering fruits and "related" items. It's good for your tummy
as well. If you haven't tried! you'd better .. I read an article in Readers
Digest about a farang who tried and loved durian ever after.

I would like to set
the story straight. I spent over 5 1/2 years
in Thailand. Was married there also.
The describtion I have heard of druian was in the Bangkok post in
1967. It was described as something
that smelled like someones sewer was
broken and running down the street.
Although they say it really does taste very good.I could not get the smell
past my nose to try it.
