A few days ago I
had the chance to go see a Thai University graduation ceremony, and what
I found the most interesting event is the "Booming". This was
new to me since I didn't get a chance to graduate from Thai University.
 I thought it would be nice to let you students
abroad knows what it is like. I've asked my friend to tell the story about
this whole event.
ปัจจุบันสังคมไทยให้ความสำคัญกับการศึกษามาขึ้น
โดยจะเห็นได้จากการที่นักเรียนระดับมัธยมศึกษามีความต้องการที่จะเข้าศึกษาต่อ
ในระดับอุดมศึกษาเพิ่มมากขึ้นโดยเฉพาะในมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐ
เมื่อได้เข้าศึกษาต่อทุกคนต่างมีจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะสำเร็จการศึกษา
โดยเฉพาะประเทศไทย พระมหากษัตริย์ได้ทรงเล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญของการศึกษา
โดยพระองค์ได้ทรงเสด็จมาพระราชทานปริญญาบัตรในสถาบันการศึกษาหลายแห่ง
อาทิ เช่น มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย เป็นต้น
ดังนั้นในวันรับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตร
จึงมีความสำคัญต่อบัณฑิตทั้งหลายเป็นอย่างยิ่ง

ในวันรับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตรจะคับคั่งไปด้วยบรรดาบัณฑิตและญาติพี่น้องที่มาร่วมงาน
จึงทำให้การนัดพบปะกันเป็นไปได้ยาก
ดังนั้นการสื่อสารจึงเข้ามามีบทบาทมากขึ้น
โดยจะเห็นได้จากบรรดาเหล่าบัณฑิตและญาติใช้เครื่องมือสื่อสารเพื่อการติดต่อกัน
ไม่ว่าจะเป็น โทรศัพท์มือถือ หรือ เพจเจอร์
On this day, the school fields are filled with
people, graduating students, relatives, friends, and photographer. Bangkok,
being known for one of the heaviest traffic jam in the world, and knowing
that traffic and mobile phone goes together, the city also has one of the
most condense number of mobile phone/pager user as well. So you can expect,
cell-phone to ring like mad today. The typical call is "where are you"
conversation. Should you drive pass the graduating university area, you
might notice that there's no connection available, basically means all the
available "cell" has been "phoned". |

"No network avaiable?"
Graduation day = E.T. can't phone home |
"Hey,
can you see me? I'm right here.. black hair, black eyes."
"What do you mean that's everyone"
"Aright.. how about white shirt?" |

ในวันนี้ไม่ว่าจะมองไปทางใดจะเห็นในอ้อมแขนของบัณฑิตถือช่อดอกไม้
และ ตุ๊กตา หลากชนิดที่ได้รับเป็นของขวัญ
และทุกคนไม่ว่าจะเป็นบัณฑิตหรือญาติพี่น้อง
ล้วนแต่มีสีหน้าที่ยิ้มแย้มแจ่มใส
มีการถ่ายรูปเป็นที่ระลึกระหว่างบัณฑิตด้วยกันเอง
และ ถ่ายรูปร่วมกับญาติพี่น้อง
Along with mobile phone and pager, another electronic
product is not to be out-done. Camera shutter and flashes are going all
day as well. Some graduate students took as many as 10 roll some even more.
Pictures of everything they can find, flower, friends, classmates, gifts,
relatives, parents, buildings, side walks, trees, dogs, cats, babies, trashcan,
if it reflects light, its in there. There are probably as many photographers,
as the graduating students, maybe more. Today will make the photo industry
very happy. |

| สิ่งที่แสดงให้เห็นเด่นชัดถึงความกลมเกลียวกันระหว่างรุ่นพี่
รุ่นน้องของสถาบัน คือ การมีรุ่นน้องมาร่วม
BOOM! แสดงความยินดีให้กับบัณฑิต และหลังจากการ
BOOM เสร็จพี่บัณฑิตมักจะมีของตอบแทนความมีน้ำใจแก่รุ่นน้อง
โดยมากมักเป็นเงินซึ่งเงินเหล่านี้
รุ่นน้องจะนำไปรวบรวม และ มองให้แก่คณะ
เพื่อที่จะนำไปใช้ในกิจกรรมที่เป็นประโยชน์ของคณะหรือมหาวิทยาลัยต่อไป

 Now this is the event that I think rules. You
don't get one of these when you graduate from states. I don't know about
other countries but in Thailand, the BOOMing is cool! I asked what was the
purpose of a BOOM, a friend said that it brings unity amongst upper and
lower classmates. After the BOOM, the graduated student would give his/her
gratitude by donating stuff (usually money) to the boomers. The money is
collected and gives to the faculty, which the boomers reside. |

What happens in the boom? Well, basically the
underclassmen gathered around the graduating student and shout the slogan
of the faculty or the school itself. If there's an on going Boom near by,
they have to compete. Basically who can pour their guts out better gets
more Boom. The boom usually lasts under a minute. Click on the speaker icon

หลังจากสำเร็จการศึกษาเหล่าบัณฑิตได้แยกย้ายกันไปทำงานตามสาขาที่เรียนมาหรือไปศึกษาต่อ
ดังนั้นจึงถือโอกาสนี้เป็นการพบปะกันระหว่างเหล่าบัณฑิตด้วยกันเอง
รวมทั้ง รุ่นพี่ และ รุ่นน้อง ซึ่งตามแต่คณะจะมีการจัดสถานที่
และ กิจกรรมต่างๆไว้ต้อนรับบัณฑิต และมีการรวมกลุ่มกันถ่ายรูปเป็นที่ระลึก
เมื่อถึงกำหนดพิธีการเข้ารับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตร
เหล่าบัณฑิตจะรายงานตัวและจะถูกนำเข้าสู่
สถานที่ประกอบพิธี และได้รับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตรจากพระหัตถ์
ของพระมหากษัตริย์ หรือพระบรมราชวงศ์ ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นช่วงเวลาที่สำคัญที่สุดของวันสำคัญวันนี้
หลังจากรับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตรแล้ว
บัณฑิตจะทยอยออกจากสถานที่ประกอบพิธี
และแยกย้ายกันไปฉลองเนื่อในวันรับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตรตามสถานที่ต่างๆ
ร่วมกับญาติพี่น้องต่อไป |

Before the graduating student goes their separate
way, today is a good chance where they will get to meet bunch of their friends,
upper classmen, underclass student, from the same faculty. Usually they
decorate up the faculty building doorway for photo shoots.
Then the important moment arrived. The graduating students will proceed
to receive their diploma from the hand of his majesty the King, or the royal
family members. This is probably the highlight of the day for the graduates.
After the official ceremonies, the graduated student goes on separate ways.
Most of them continue to celebrate the rest of the day. Party on! |

ถึงแม้ว่า วันสำคัญที่สุดวันหนึ่งของชีวิตได้ผ่านพ้นไป
และบัณฑิตแต่ละคนจะต้องแยกย้ายกันไปประกอบอาชีพ
และ ดำเนินตามวิถีชีวิตของตนเอง แต่มีสิ่งหนึ่งที่ยังคงอยู่ในความทรงจำตลอดไปของพวกเขา
คือ ภาพแห่งความสำเร็จและความประทับใจในวันนี้
"วันรับพระราชทานปริญญาบัตร"
Even though one of the most memorable day of
their life has passed, the graduates will go on their own separate ways,
pursuing their working career, buy they will always treasure today (Ten
rolls of film should help them remember!) They finally received that piece
of paper that symbolize successful completion of 'formal' education from
a Thai university. I hope they have fun as they continue studying the University
of Life. |

ขอแสดงความยินดีกับบัณฑิตทุกท่าน อย่าลืมว่าในมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐนั้น
นักศึกษาออกค่าใช้จ่ายเพียง 10 เปอร์เซ็นต์ อีก 90 เปอร์เซ็นต์ได้มาจากภาษีที่เก็บมาจากราษฎร
จากชาวนา จากแม่ค้า จบออกมาแล้วก็คืนกำไรให้ท่านเหล่านั้นด้วยนะคะ อย่าเอารัดเอาเปรียบพวกเขา
เหล่านั้น มาช่วยพัฒนาชาติไทยดีกว่า

Why theses days ..a gradution is much awaken........people are very crazy to have a higher degree ..even..much flexible to have ... |
